The components on GPON technology

The components on GPON technology were:
1. Sources of light
The light source is used to emit light that carries information is the result of the conversion of
electrical signals into optical signals. The light source used in GPON technology is Injection
Laser Diode (ILD). ILD type used in GPON systems include Fabry Perot Laser and Distributed
feddback Laser (DFB), the spectral width of each - each 3nm and 1nm.

2. Fibre optics are used
Type of optical fiber used in GPON applied for remote communication must have the ability to carry multiple signals at a high bit rate. Of the two types of existing optical fiber, single mode and multimode, which is used as a transmission medium GPON technology is a type of single-mode, this is because the wavelength of the working area is higher than the single mode wavelength multimode work area. So that the optical fiber type is more appropriate to use long-distance transmission that requires high-speed transmission and losses - losses small.

3. Optical Line Termination (OLT)
Optical Line Termination (OLT) as the central area of the network system. OLT is a combination of CWDM, Gigabit-capable Ethernet (GbE) and SONET / SDH is used to transmit voice, data and video pass through Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network (GPON). OLT has a function to perform the conversion of electrical signals into optical.
Part - the part of the OLT:
Optical Network Terminal (ONT) located on the customer side of the network system. Optimate 1000NT (ONT) has the main task of which is used to transmit voice, data and video network which passes through a Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network (GPON) to customers and OLT.

5. Flex Manage
Manage the Flex is a software for monitoring of GPON services. Manage Flex is a solution of the network management FlexLight designed by web-based system. Flexmanage operated for setting up a network or operate the network in order to avoid downtime (able to cope with or avoid downtime. From the Manage Flex can know what the alarm is active, reporting system, or network failures GPON.

6. Splitter
Splitter is a simple optical fiber coupler that splits the optical signal into multiple paths (multiple paths) or signals - signals combined in a single path. In addition, the splitter can also serve to route and combine optical signals. Splitter consists of 3 ports and can be reached from 32 ports. Based on ITU Standard G.983.1 BPON is recommended that the signal can be split to 32 customers, but the ratio increased to 64 by the ITU-T G.984 GPON standard. Splitter supports several options division ratio of the signal. Division ratio can use a tool to splitter, splitter use a single example 1:32, or the use of splitters in parallel such as 1:8 and 1:4 or 1:16 or 1:2.
7. Splicer
Connecting tool known as the Optical Fiber Fusion Splicer is a device used to connect optical fiber-based core that implements a power glass that has been converted into a media-shaped beam of laser light which serves to heat the glass that broke in the core so that the back is well connected. This splicer grafting tool must have high accuracy so that when splicing (splicing) could be close to perfect, because the process of welding glass medium glass melting process occurs that results in an intact media connected with the absence of a gap because the media has a character that has the same compound. Grafting may not be complete, because it does not follow the correct connection procedures. If this is the case then the switching process must be repeated again, to near attenuation which the smallest (below 0.2 dB)

8. Connector
Connector located on the tip of the optical fiber is connected directly to the device. Connectors on the fiber optic is made of simple materials such as plastic, rubber and glass so it is more practical. Connector has several types, among others:

a. FC (Fiber Connector): used for single mode cable with a very high accuracy in the cable   connecting the transmitter and receiver. These connectors use a threaded screw system with an adjustable position, so that when paired with another device, its accuracy will not be easily changed.

b. SC (subsciber Connector): used for single mode cable, with plug-deprived system. This connector is not too expensive, simple, and can be set manually as well as good accuracy when paired with other devices.

c. ST (Straight Tip): looks like a keyed bayonet similar to BNC connectors. Very commonly used for both multi-mode and single cable mode. Very easy to use either installed or removed.
